Interview DBA student : Elena Ranguelova

Can you introduce yourself and share with us your academic and professional background?

My name is Elena Ranguelova.  I’m 43 years old. I was born and raised in Bulgaria.  When I was 19 years old I moved to Ireland where I lived for 17 years.  I completed my undergraduate and post graduate education there. I hold a bachelor degree and two masters degrees.  My area of expertise is finance.  I’ve spent the last 18 years working in the funds industry in Dublin and Luxembourg.  I’ve worked for JPMorgan, Bankhaus Metzler, Prime Capital and Currently LRI Invest.  Seven years ago I moved to Luxembourg.   I’m currently a senior vice president in the funds industry in Luxembourg.

Why did you choose the DBA Program of ISC Paris Business School?

I chose the DBA program at ISC Paris because I truly appreciated how it was structured allowing me to continue working while studying.  Another important factor was the impeccable reputation of ISC Paris as an educational institution.  I had done research amongst my French colleagues and they all confirmed what I found online, namely the fact ISC Paris is an excellent educational institution.

Also worth mentioning is that during the interview process for admission I felt supported and reassured that whatever life had to offer in terms of challenges I would not be left alone in my efforts in completing the program.  This proved to be the case as despite any challenges life had to offer my supervisor was always there to give me feedback and work with me on completing my dissertation to the highest academic standard.  For this I will always be grateful to Professor Karim Ben Slimane and ISC Paris.

Can you tell us about your experience as a student at ISC Paris Business School?

My experience was excellent.  The professors were very supportive and knowledgeable.  The first year was instrumental in acquiring all necessary skills and knowledge to perform in depth quantitative and qualitative research and thus successfully complete the research part of the program, namely the writing of the dissertation in years two and three of the program.  My supervisor Prof Karim Ben Slimane was exceptional.  His feedback and support during the completion of the dissertation was invaluable. The process was extremely well structured and despite the huge amount of work I had to put in it was a very smooth and rewarding process.

Can you tell us what you have learned during your first semester?

I learnt how to perform quantitative and qualitative research which resulted in completing my dissertation to the highest academic standard.
